Poker Champions
Miami John Cernuto
Miami once claimed his nickname brings him luck, because after he took on the name he entered the 1988 Super bowl of Poker and won his first big pot and the seven-card-stud title. It seems as though he was right (although we believe a fair amount of skill was involved too) and has continued to rise in stature in the poker scene.
This year alone (2003) he has won the Heads Up Poker Tournament in Vienna, beat 381 players at the L.A. Poker Classic in Event #5 at No Limit Hold'em - winning the tournament and over $70,000, he won $23,000 in event #17 at the Legends of Poker, and placed fourth in the Limit 7-Card Stud Championship in the United States Poker Championship at Trump Taj Mahal.
Howard Lederer
During the PPM II hosted by PartyPoker.com on the backdrop of the Caribbean Paradise Howard Lederer walked home with a cash prize of $ 263,850. There were around a 177 players, 134 of whom qualified online, who competed for a coveted title of being the PPM II champion. They played innumerable exciting rounds of Limit Hold Em before Howard Lederer beat them all only to get richer by more than $ 250,000.
Party Poker Million II was a fabulous time for everyone. The luxurious cruise, the serene locations and the excitement flowing in the place all summed up the experience to be an unforgettable one.
